Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter January 28, 2022

Yesterday I made a Facebook live video to show everyone the results of my trip to Augusta GA this week. I shared the framed art that I brought back including some punch patterns. The other big reveal was a terrific merit badge collection that had 289 pre 1960 merit badges with every few duplicates.

I have collected merit badges passively for about a decade now. So I can speak the language but I have not gone out and purchased individual ones to fill holes. But the two photo albums I got have tons of my needs which is exactly the kind of collection I love to purchase. Today I hope to find time to go through and make a spreadsheet of all the good ones that I pull and cross them off the list.

I have 257 live auctions on eBay this week. Some of the items I brought home Wednesday that were OA just got listed this morning. So far I’ve made back about 1/2 of what I have invested in the collection through Facebook sales so my goal is to get it paid for as quick as possible.

I had another visitor to my warehouse yesterday and bought a North Carolina collection of flaps and conclave pieces from the last twenty years. I am sitting on a mountain of similar stuff and I keep thinking there is a clever way to break the stuff up between online sales, TORs and trading stock. We will see!
