Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter February 20, 2018
Tomorrow I am driving to Columbia to attend a camping committee meeting. Of course I’ve lined up two different people to meet with on the way down to do some patch deals. Does that mean I can count this trip as a business expense?
This weekend I’m driving to the Eastern Virginia TOR in Norfolk. That will definitely count as a business expense. This show is close enough to the northeast to attract some folks from that heavily populated region. There is also a nice North Carolina connection as for a time those two states were in the same OA section together.
Well my quest to send out as many “invitations” as possible to the Charlotte Trade-O-Ree has gone well. This morning I’ve got 11 packages with 600 fliers total going out to collectors that have agreed to share them at their next lodge event. Except for Tsali #134 that doesn’t have an event before April 6-7 I have every lodge in NC/SC and a few in GA covered. Egwa Tawa Dee in Atlanta got added last night thanks to Bruce Lafitte.

I started collecting Boy Scout memorabilia when I was inducted into Santee Lodge 116, Order of the Arrow at Camp Coker in the summer of 1986. All the guys of ISWA chapter in Elk campsite seemed to be trading and since my dad sent me to camp with a small bag of patches, I jumped in and never looked back....
