You have to support your local shows! Even when they are the weekend after the biggest TOR of the year. This weekend (well Friday) I am driving the short distance to the Old North State Council TOR in Jamestown, NC. This show came back last year after a hiatus. Some of you would have known it in the distant past as the Greensboro TOR. But regardless I will be there with some tables and inventory.
I had almost 200 people respond to this picture on social media yesterday. This young Scout (11 years old) walked into the Crossroads of America TOR with his mom last Saturday. We spoke briefly and I was able to gift him a Scout knife for his belt. This is why you need local TORs! Someone planted a seed with that Scout and him being there in person was the perfect fertilizer. That young man might grow up to be the next Paul Myers!
I have exactly two months before hosting my own Trade-O-Ree in Charlotte. Some of the things we do is offer space to host collection displays. A local Scouter (Stuart Tucker) also runs merit badge classes on Saturday morning for Collections and Scouting Heritage. I have also invited our local Catawba Lodge to sell from their lodge store with a complimentary table.
On eBay this week I have 170 live auctions running. These include many good SAPs, OA and merit badges. In the office we are photographing neckerchiefs and OA to get ready for the next round of listings.
