Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter March 3, 2023

My project for the last two days (YouTube Video) has been very satisfying although I probably couldn’t pay most of you to suffer through this sort. I am taking thousands of modern era plastic backed merit badges and getting them listed online. My main goal is to help Scout troop’s be thrifty by recycling these patches. I’m confirming condition, design and pulling out the retired ones. For fun take Water Skiing that has 3 different designs in the modern era but now has been retired. I actually found 1/2 dozen I needed for my own collection yesterday (mostly the new ones).

This all started when the advancement chairman from my daughter’s troop would come to the warehouse to pick before a Court of Honor. I got one wave of MBs organized to help her and eventually had a few other troops reach out. So now instead of letting these patches sit on my to-do list for years because of their low perceived value for collectors I’m getting them available so I can recycle them back to troops at a low cost.

I have 225 live auctions on my Patchblanket eBay Store. These include belt buckles, OA, WSJ and camps. I try to really mix up the offerings so it’s not stale. On my OApatch account I have 100 auctions running this week. I’m methodically building up that store as well.
