Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter February 26, 2019

Yesterday I did shipping all day long (my employee is out of town this week). Today it’s back to the sorting and I hope by the end of this week I’ll have the warehouse back under control. Besides sorting individual boxes I’m also moving everything to certain aisles so similar things are together. The fact that I am forced to have whole aisle dedicated to Scout books is not making me happy.

Another aisle in the warehouse is going to have be for textiles. Part of that is my collection of campfire blankets (European style) but the majority is made up of uniforms and t-shirts. These are items I can sell in my antique mall. I only sell a few per month so it’s not enough volume to make a difference. One promotion I’m considering is giving away a complete Scout uniform to any Scout that completes one of the scavenger hunts at the Charlotte TOR.

Visitor tickets are available now for the 2019 WSJ. Although the $55 per person/day price tag is a little steep for most. I won’t live long enough to see another World Scout Jamboree held in the United States so I plan to go visit at some point. I haven’t heard even a rumor of any organized TOR or gathering for patch hounds but if I do I will be sure to share.

The 99 cent auctions roll on and I’ve added a few more items including a run from the U.S. Grant Pilgrimage including some going back in the 1960s. Now just to be clear those are not starting at 99 cents but the whole strategy is to get eyes on my listings so I’ll see if it works or not.

I hope to shoot a video maybe by the end of the week kinda giving a tour of the inside of the warehouse (once it’s under control!) because several collectors have asked me to see the set up.
