Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter March 7, 2023

Yesterday I finished my agonizing sort of modern era merit badges. I now have a few thousand merit badges sorted by title, era, and condition. This week one of my helpers will photograph everything and soon thereafter I will get them up on my Shopify Store. These are the designs still used by the BSA with plastic backing so my hope is that troops can use them to be thrifty.

If you have never checked out the Digital Crackerbarrel on Monday nights it might just be for you. It’s a Zoom that started during COVID run by John Pleasants and Larry Lane. They get different collectors to come on each week and present. John put the call out that they need presenters for upcoming meetups so if you have a topic you can share with a PowerPoint etc then contact John.

I have spent way too much time over the last week playing with ideas to open back up secondary eBay stores. Above I have linked my $5 Dollar Patch Store. The concept here is pretty simple take the worry out of pricing for me and just load up a store with a ton of variety at hopefully the right price. Some of the items listed already are ones that I typically get in collections like stuff from the 1960 Golden Jubilee. I’m also running a few auctions just to keep some energy there.

On my Patchblanket Store, I have 249 live auctions this week including WSJ, belt buckles, SAPs, and OA. I try and keep it interesting with different stuff ending every night.
