Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter March 11, 2022

Yesterday, I published a really fun unboxing video that at first I was filming exclusively for my Patreon supporters. But I decided it was the type of video that should be shared with a wider audience because there was stuff in the box I had never seen before. The story of how I got this collection was part of the reason why I wanted to crack it open and see what was really in there.

As a thread head I am not the type of collector who gets excited about paper. But in this case to see all the documents from the cancelled 1935 Jamboree was cool. Some of these I don’t think I’ve ever seen and literally last night I went to Goodwill to find a frame that I could put this collection in to share. View the unboxing here!

I have 265 live auctions on eBay this week as I continue to auction off neckerchiefs and many shoulder patches. In my warehouse we have a couple of bulletin boards that track progress as boxes go through the listing process. Right now we have about 50 boxes scanned and ready to get listed. It takes a lot of time to do that but all this sorting has paid off.

The unboxing video also serve as a promotion for you to join my Patreon group called the Scouting Hot Finds Insiders. These are folks that are willing to “tip” me a few dollars each month to help support all the content I’m putting out. This video was filmed to be an exclusive for the Insiders but I decided to release it publicly instead because it was just too good. But when you join the group you get access to all of these exclusive unboxings, interviews etc. Many creators on the Internet are using Patreon to build a private community of followers that want to get even more behind the scenes action. I am creating that kind of content for those collectors that want to see it. But also because I like sharing the journey of this online business and there are some details that are a bit too delicate to share publicly.
