Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter April 04, 2021

Happy Easter to those of you that celebrate the holiday. For only the 2nd time in 2021 my church is holding in person worship (outside) today and we are scheduled for the 11 AM service. It is beginning to feel a little more normal now. We went on vacation Thurs-Sat and I can tell you the roads were packed.

I got some good feedback on the video that I shared in the last newsletter. Turns out there are several people slowing toiling with this nearly impossible name/number collection. You would be surprised how many people reached out who wanted the felt set of lodges that never issued a patch (sorry I am keeping it).

I am already busy filming my next video in the warehouse. This one is showing how I sort all the random memorabilia that I get in when sorting collections. It’s the kind of thing that some of you might get a kick out of. Every collection has jamboree stuff, insignia, Cub Scout stuff etc. In this video I am actually running a huge sort and showing all the steps. Look for that late next week.

On eBay I have over a hundred auctions ending tonight. Some of these are OA issues but the majority are event patches that I wanted to give a chance in the format. You never know which ones a couple of collectors will lock horns on so I enjoy letting auctions run. I often get asked to end auctions early and sell the item straight up but I always tell the guy I like to let the horses run to see who will win.

Tomorrow I will publish the next episode of my podcast Scouting Hot Finds Radio. This is an interview with Wyatt Williamson on how to make collecting guides. He has a free template that might be very valuable for jump starting new projects.
