Today I published Episode #96 of Scouting Hot Finds Radio. This is an interview with Wiatt Williamson on making collecting guides. Wiatt has offered to share a free template that he has created which really makes it easy to jump start any guide project.
Wiattt has been making local guides for OA lodges and camps in Utah for many years. During that time he has come up with some great ideas on what can go into a guide including much more than just pictures of patches. In the interview he shares his ideas and talks about the free template that is linked on the show notes page.
I plan to use his format for my long delayed collecting guide book on the camp I grew up going to. How awesome would it be if there was a book for a all the camps that belonged to large council after mergers? Or a free PDF like David McIntyre is working on for all the CSPs in his state. These guide books can really be the fuel for the hobby going forward. Especially since the all encompassing websites we relied on over the last 20 years have faced challenges.
I have 266 live auctions on eBay. Every night this week I have 25 event patches and 15 OA issues ending at auction. Then this weekend I’ve got 50 really good OA pieces ending 1 minute apart. Sunday will be fun for me to watch what the results are.
Tonight my family is in for a real treat. We have tickets to see my SC Gamecocks take on the UNC Tarheels in baseball in uptown Charlotte at our minor league stadium. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a USC baseball game despite attending school there for 6 years. But our team this year is really good so it should be fun. Plus who can pass up a ball park hot dog?
