Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter May 03, 2022

As much as I’m a thread head and patch dealer (which gets a bad rap in Scouting) I try and also be a helpful volunteer Scouter. But there are seasons in Scouting and I’m coming to the end of one of those. My daughter will age out of our Scouts BSA girl troop in a couple of months after 3+ years. My son dropped his troop coming out of COVID so I am about to find myself as a free agent. So last night I went and visited with the new Cubmaster of our old pack to see if I could help in some way.

I told the Cubmaster that I could see myself helping with recruiting in the late summer because I can set my own schedule. So going to school open house days is not a problem. I also spend a lot of time in front of a computer so I could help with some social media presence for the pack. At my church we have one family pack that feeds three Scout troops so my thought is a healthy pack means all the troops benefit.

The newly minted District Chairman was also there last night and I declined his invitation to pursue helping on that level. I know there can be “politics” in Scouting and at this point in my life I just want to do something straight forward where I feel like I’m being useful. I won’t have a kid in the program this fall so entering this chapter I want to pick my roles carefully. 🙂

This week on eBay I have 312 live auctions on everything from shoulder patches to belt buckles pins and vintage OA. I am packing up for camp 30 days from today so I literally have to get everything to a stopping point so my employees can handle it while I’m gone.

I will be publishing the video later today to my Patreon Group that I mentioned Sunday. Probably on Facebook today I’ll do a quick live video to show everyone the crazy massive sort that I’m in the middle of. Oh yeah it’s crazy.
