In this unboxing, I share a small but meaningful 1970s Eagle Scout collection from Steven Mark Meyers. The collection includes his Eagle Scout certificate, newspaper clippings, rank patches, Eagle medal, sterling silver Eagle pin, and merit badge sash.
This collection is especially interesting because it bridges two eras of Scouting, showing the transition from the older green rank patches to the oval rank badges introduced in the early 1970s. I also walk through the merit badges on the sash, including several Eagle-required badges from that period, along with harder-to-find or changed designs such as Conservation of Natural Resources, Cycling, Water Skiing, Theater, and Environmental Science.
The video closes with a heartfelt Eagle Scout recommendation letter written by Steven’s father, highlighting the meaning of the Scout Law, the significance of earning Eagle, and the pride families feel when a young man reaches Scouting’s highest rank.
I buy Boy Scout, Order of the Arrow, camp, jamboree, Eagle Scout, and Scouting memorabilia collections. If you have a collection like this — whether from an Eagle Scout, National Jamboree attendee, Philmont participant, longtime collector, or family estate — reach out through ScoutPatchCollectors.com. I’d love to talk with you, make an offer, and help get those pieces recycled back into the Scouting collecting community. Send me an email or text or call so we can see how I can help you.
