At summer camp we have a program on Tuesday night called the Pop Up Scout Museum. Matt Delk and I launched this last year so that we could share some Scouting history by doing a display and short presentation. This year Matt has one ready about Scouting insignia including ranks. Mine is going to be about campfire blankets except this week I’m going to try something different.
If you have ever watched my unboxing videos then you will know I try and talk about the memorabilia and maybe share a little bit of knowledge about anything unique that I pull out. The target for that is not those of you who are super patch hounds but rather the newer collector that is maybe curious and can learn a thing or two.
So this week I am going to unbox a 49 pound box of Scouting memorabilia that came in from Arkansas. My idea is to do that live with a bunch of Scouts kinda circled around during this program time and try and bring that excitement to the youth. It might be a train wreck but I like trying out ideas so we will see if it works!
I have 267 live auctions on eBay this week. The mix includes OA, Jamboree sets, SAPs and more. I have auctions scheduled out for the next two weeks so I can get through this first week of camp without thinking about it.
We are going to welcome over 200 leaders and Scouts to the first week of camp at Barstow today. Somebody ordered up some hot weather for us so keeping hydrated is going to be the name of the game!
