Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter June 29, 2025

Today I wanted to share another video from the catalog. Back about 10 years ago I was doing a talking heads show with Brad England. Sometimes this format went on the road and I interviewed collectors at TORs. At one show I caught up with John Ortt of VA and he gave an excellent talk on early OA pins. It’s a treat and I hope you enjoy it.

One of the content pieces that I might bring back as I figure out where I want to go is this interview style video on topics in the hobby. I like how it allows you to meet a fellow collector and hear their passion. They get to share some knowledge and become the teacher. It’s a similar mission to the digital cracker barrel that I have complimented many times in the Hot Finds.

I found a super cool office space for sale that I am going to look at Wednesday. The downside is that it’s a bit at the edge of my self imposed commute limits. I’m also realizing that with an office set up you loose a lot of square feet to hallways. This one is listed at 3813 sq feet but I think at least 15% of that is unusable hallways. So I’m taking it as a learning lesson and not getting my hopes up.

On eBay I have 232 live auctions. If I’m going to go look at commercial space I sure as heck better be selling enough to pay the note. Through the summer I’m not slowing down on our listing goal. We have over 40 boxes sorted and ready to photograph. I am waiting for them to invent a robot that will do that for me.
