Last week I talked to Brad England and decided to order thousands of business cards to promote the Scout Patch Collectors Facebook Group. For our hobby, Jamboree is the chance to plant many seeds for young Scouts and leaders to become interested in this pastime.
As I speak to old Scouters about their collections the two things many of them have in common are they either went to Philmont or a Jamboree or both. Those guys when they were boys had mountaintop experiences in Scouting and they are the ones who have held onto their Scouting memorabilia for decades because it really made an impression.
I am still working a few other ideas and videos to take the Jamboree buzz that is generated and make it last more than two weeks. I feel like for that short period of time thousands of people are introduced to the idea of patch collecting. Almost everybody by accident or design trades patches at the Jambo!
On my OApatch account I have 70 active auctions after letting a week go by with nothing. I really noticed the dip in sales – it’s amazing what feeding eBay with new items does to your store. I am getting my Santeeswapper account restocked as well since I’m down to 131 live auctions mostly on camp and World Jamboree pieces.
