Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter July 9, 2023

I am back at camp for a short week with ROTC kids (registered as Explorers) before departing Thursday for good. I’ve already started packing for Jamboree and getting ready to take off the camp director hat and just be a volunteer for the trip to WV.

I have read through the guidelines for patch trading and it seems very open and favorable to the hobby. Literally the only major rule was don’t trade rank patches which must be from an old line in the Insignia Control Guide. I know in the troop I’m going with there are already a couple of youth traders and hopefully some more will catch the bug.

One of the big decisions I have to make is what to take to the Jamboree to trade. I know for sure I’m investing a lot of energy in recycling older Jambo patches and neckerchiefs. I end up with sooo many of these from buying collections – especially since it’s been since 2017 that I’ve had a chance to trade them.

On OApatch I have 79 live auctions with some ending tonight. Over on Santeeswapper I am continuing to auction off camp and World Jamboree items with 165 live auctions running.
