Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter July 27, 2021

Some times you strike out! I got a call from a lady (while I was in the airport) looking to sell her dad’s old uniform and merit badge sash. It was from the late 1940s and exactly what I love to collect. After she sent me the pictures I made her a fair offer. But it turns out sentimental value is much higher than what the market will bear. I never found out what she thought the value of these items were but apparently you can’t put a price on dad’s old stuff.
A year from now many of us will be right in the middle of the 2022 NOAC in Knoxville, TN. Days filled with patch trading, shows, training classes and late night pizza. Hopefully in the near future I can get Chris Jensen on my podcast to share the details of the Pre-NOAC TOR that he always organizes.
I have not heard any news regarding the rescheduling of the Jamboree. 2017 was a long time ago! I know that with COVID and bankruptcy there was no way to keep it on the schedule but hopefully coming out of all this there is a plan. 2023?
I have 113 live auctions up on eBay. It’s a good thing that I’m back in the office Thursday as my run of prescheduled auctions is coming to an end. I’ll work to get some new ones loaded and continue the strategy. Over the summer by not taking my foot off the pedal I grew my eBay store to 47k live listings.
Today we are visiting Universal Studios Hollywood to check more boxes on the tourist agenda in Los Angeles. Tomorrow we jump on an airplane and fly home to Charlotte with no connecting flights to complicate matters. It’s been a very good trip visiting my sister-in-law’s family. She lives smack in mid-city LA so it’s a very unique setting.
