Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter August 14, 2020

I shared a video on my website of patch trading at the 2009 NOAC. This was a feeding frenzy as it always is after the show ends and all the traders meet up at the designated spot. In 2009 it was Reed Hall and boy there just wasn’t enough room. It will be some time before we see that kinda trading again.

This week I reviewed all of my websites and spent some time putting a new post on one of the projects I miss the most – There are a few regional site like this (notably the NY site by Bill Mulrenin) that attempt to share information about one area. It started off 7 years ago as an idea to let people share stories and updates about new issues for their lodge. As I find time I hope to publish some new items this fall.

This week I also found time to film 3 unboxing videos. They are not edited yet but next week I’m sure I’ll get 1 or 2 of them published and share the details in the newsletter. These are always fun to shoot and I do my best to make them entertaining and maybe even educational for younger collectors.

I have started running auctions on a huge Washington State group of OA including flaps and conclaves. These are set like my other recent groupings to launch 25 every night. However this Sunday I have about 50 council activity patches from that area going up for bids.

I will have just shy of 30k items on eBay when I complete this integration with Shopify. Thanks to eBay’s generosity I will still have 20k items to go before I have to consider upgrading my store subscription. That’s a good problem to have!
