Finally home from the beach and ready to get back to work. The good thing about turning your hobby into your business is I am always ready to go to the office and dive in. I have packages to pick up, messages to respond to, and lots of sorting and listing to manage. Plus it’s time for the post summer unboxing palooza.

The rhythm in the warehouse is that I don’t unbox collections as soon as they arrive unless there is an urgent need to do so. Once a small collection is bought and paid for it can sit on the shelf for months. After a long summer that means a lot of boxes are sitting on the shelf waiting to get their moment on film. So what I usually do is do a monster unboxing marathon over a few days and film a dozen or more videos.

The reason this makes sense in the business is that I can then sort everything at the same time. If you have watched any of my sorting videos in the warehouse you would understand. We put out like 50 plastic tubs and sort for example merit badges down to the type, same for rank and position patches. Basically every item in the collection gets sorted down to it’s “atomic” level because we list similar items together. In the end I’ll have a bucket with all the National Jamboree issues but in a separate one I’ll have the council issued JSPs. Likewise standard CSPs are separated from SAPs. But for someone like me this is the fun part!

I have just a handful of auctions running but all that is about to change. If I can put my head down this week I hope to get back to the 50 items/day listing goal that I had for the first 1/2 of the year. Auctions will be a part of that mix for sure.
