Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter August 16, 2024
Fresh out with a new unboxing video today. While I was traveling home from NOAC I spoke to this Scouters widow for more than 30 minutes in the Denver airport. She shared so many stories of his growing up and long career in aviation. His sash is a neat reminder of how the skills that boys learned in Scouting impacted their career paths.
When I get back Monday I am going to update my TOR calendar for the fall and spring of 2025. So far this year we have mailed out thousands of fliers with a TOR calendar to help promote all the shows across the country. If I can ever find a cheap way to get copies done (anyone want to trade copies for patches?) I can include one in EVERY order I ship out.
While I am on vacation, I wanted to run just a few auctions. The ones you will see are military pieces that came from the same collection as this unboxing. I’m keeping the sash for my permanent display. But in the box, there were military patches that were given to him by his uncles after the war. I’m trying to get this recycled back into the military collecting community.

I started collecting Boy Scout memorabilia when I was inducted into Santee Lodge 116, Order of the Arrow at Camp Coker in the summer of 1986. All the guys of ISWA chapter in Elk campsite seemed to be trading and since my dad sent me to camp with a small bag of patches, I jumped in and never looked back....
