Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter August 22, 2021

I had a great time at the Occoneechee TOR this weekend. Multiple people drove 8+ hours to be there so nobody can call this just a local show anymore. In fact I heard one of the big time dealers tried to get tables too late a few months ago and got left at home.

A month from now I’ll be hosting the Charlotte TOR and we also have folks traveling from near and far to attend. I have table renters from TX, PA, KY, GA, VA, MD and of course the Carolinas. We will also have two merit badges being taught, concessions courtesy of our Scouts BSA girl troop and free admission for all. Get all the details at

I don’t know if I cracked the code for setting up at a TOR but I had a very good weekend for sales. My wife was pleased to hear that I didn’t purchase a single patch while at the show. That may have been a first! But I have plenty of new inventory to sort so I’m already a little overwhelmed getting settled back in.

I have over 100 vintage OA pieces ending at auction tonight. By vintage I mean that none of them are newer than 1976. I also have some cool event patches many of which are featured below.

My other piece of news is that the antique mall where I rent a booth is moving to a larger location just down the street. While good for them it means by the end of September I have to relocate all of my stuff. The new space will be MUCH better (parking, everyone in a single building) but will also mean a more expensive booth fee. So I’ll try it for a year and see if I can still turn a profit selling there. I use that space to sell books, uniforms, patches, artwork and 3D items that I get in. You can see some pictures at
