Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter August 02, 2022
Well as of today everyone who works with me has caught COVID this summer. I didn’t see one of my employees this week as she was isolating after her husband tested positive. But I got the news this morning that she also has it now. If you have not caught this latest strain of the virus count yourself lucky. It’s mild but man it gets around! So looks like I’ll be sitting behind the desk doing shipping this week.
Everyone takes a different route when deciding what to do with their trades from a big national event. I know that most collectors put back a huge number of patches and just try and dispose of the duplicates. I have some pretty serious collections but modern patches are not part of that. I usually will pick one or two as keepsakes and let the rest roll. For me that has been 5 day auctions with the same opening bid for everything. I don’t get caught up in how many were made etc as I traded for them all 1:1. The KISS method of trading if you have ever heard that phrase.
I saw some chatter on Facebook that kinda reinforces why I don’t get caught up in this thing about how many were made. Some people had a disagreement about numbers and it was portrayed as a seller using some false advertising to boost their set for sale. I think only one time in my listing have I stated how many were made (Unami Delegate) but collectors are smart and they figure out which ones are rare without me making claims.
With all my NOAC sets running on top of scheduled listings I’ve got a whopping
683 live auctions on eBay. My normal run of items is about 1/3 of that total and the rest are NOAC pieces.
