Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter August 4, 2015

NOAC has started! The contingents arrived yesterday and the opening show kicked things off. I’ll try and use today’s issue to report on the patch scene at the big event.

The TOR wrapped up Monday and I have to say Chris Jensen put on a good show. One comment I heard someone make was that more contingents rolled in there than in 2012 when the TOR was on campus. However, I have to say that Monday everything fizzled as long lines at check-in and competing activities kept some people away. We are all lucky that Chris put that much effort into hosting because I don’t think anybody else could have pulled it off.

Patch trading was sporadic on the check-in day. Seems like most of it died out by 4:30 as dinner and gathering for the show became the pressing. What really surprised me was after the show. I would have thought the field house would have been elbow to elbow with traders but that was not the case. I’d describe it as very light for a NOAC double the size of 2012. Not sure what gives there but perhaps tonight will turn things around as everyone figures out where the activities are.

I am sure a few of you would like to get an update on what the hot sets are. It’s probably too early for me to offer up a guess. I am keeping an eye on eBay and although the early sales can be deceiving there are some winners there.

Once again yesterday on campus I continued to see people that get the newsletter and it puts a big smile every time someone comes up to shake my hand with that greeting. It’s a great community of patch collectors and I appreciate those who have been reading this newsletter for so long!
