Boy Scout Collection Unboxing 1969 National Jamboree Scout From Michigan

You never know where Scouts go on their journey and it would certainly seem that this Michigan Scout had a connection to Scouting in Japan. In the box I discover some items from the 1970 Nippon Jamboree (the equivalent to our National Jamboree). There were also several BSA patches from Japan possibly for Scouts that were there living on base or in diplomatic situation. It’s always cool to see these time capsules!

I purchase collections like this from people who have nobody in their family that is interested in holding on to this great old stuff. I understand because when my dad passed none of us three kids were interested in his Lionel trains. We all kept a couple to put on a shelf but what to do with the dozens more and all the accessories. So for the Boy Scout stuff I have been collecting since I was a teenager and I love adding new things to my collection (like the conclave patch in this video) and then finding new homes for everything else. I try and recycle these items back into the hands of Scouts and Scouters.

I also have a Patreon Group called the Scouting Hot Finds Insiders. This video was edited by Samuel who has been helping me over the last year increase the quality and quantity of content I am putting out for the Scouting memorabilia collecting community. Hi Jason, I enjoyed this unboxing video as I possibly knew the Scout. He was in the Far East Council the same time I was but probably in Japan due to the Camp Tama patch. Interesting he did have the 1966 Scout-o-rama patch from Okinawa which was the very first Scouting event I attended after moving there. Several of the pins you showed are from Thailand and the blue patch is from Greece.
