Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter October 14, 2022

Thursday about did me in. The week of a TOR my wife always tells me that I go crazy and so this time I finally took here advice. Yesterday in addition to packing for the TOR I went to Rock Hill to promote Camp Barstow at a camp expo. I drove straight from there wearing my camp staff polo and Scout socks to set up tables at the church. Then I was driving back to the warehouse at 11 PM to continue packing until her voice reminded me you don’t have to do everything.

So instead of pulling an all nighter like I was twenty years younger I gassed up and drove home to get a good night’s sleep. This morning I am back out at the warehouse refreshed and I’ve just decided that even with the Uhaul that I’ve rented I’m just going to take what’s easy to grab and not bring the kitchen sink. As she put it this week – how many times am I going to move the same box of coffee mugs.

On eBay I have 164 live auctions running this week. Many times I’ve gone to a TOR and sold more that weekend in my eBay store than I did the actual show. Hopefully sales at the Charlotte TOR will exceed that expectations but I do like not having all my bets on one horse.

I did enjoy speaking to everyone at the Palmetto Council camp expo. They had over 2-dozen camps represented and a good turnout. Our new Program Director Max Robinson made his debut so to speak in his backyard. We even ran across the leadership from his old Cub Scout pack in Lancaster, SC.
