Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter November 04, 2022

I spent some time updating the TOR calendar on my website so I can help drum up interest in all the shows scheduled for the hobby. I try and do this every few months and spotted several new events that have been added. I hope you will make plans to attend a TOR near you as I really do think they are great opportunities to fellowship with people in our great hobby.

Today I’m driving about 1.5 hours to meet a patch collector and make a deal in person. We are going to enjoy some BBQ and he is going to get a bunch of needs for his collection. This guy is kinda new to the scene but follows a common theme. People who are reconnecting with their childhood. He was into patches back in the day but like the rest of us didn’t have enough money to chase down the hard stuff. All these years later he is going to sell off pieces of his Bourbon collection (yes that’s a thing) and put that money into patches.

On eBay, I have 179 live auctions running on a wide variety of items including Jamboree, OA, belt buckles and more. By the end of the day I hope to have my November auction calendar completely full.

Next weekend I’m excited to attend a neat camporee event at Camp Barstow where I’ll throw myself into whatever volunteer role they need help with. This is the first time our camp staff Venturing Crew is trying to help out with a council-wide event. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone.
