I know some of you think my Scouting adventures are crazy so listen to this week. Tonight I have a Girl Scout meeting (I registered Friday as an official co-leader) in preparation for next weekend’s camping trip. After a Pack meeting Monday the next big event is the informational meeting for our church’s new Scouts BSA Girl Troop Thursday night. Then Saturday morning I push off with the Girl Scouts for a 1 night trip to Kings Mountain.
I got a heart breaking email from a fellow collector after Friday’s issue. In that newsletter I shared my interest in having a great display collection on various topics and included a picture of my new acquistion of a 1929 WSJ contingent medal. The Scouter had been building a collection with his son before a tragic accident. So we have worked out a deal for me to purchase the collection which will become part of that display. I’ll share photos when it comes in.
I hope to put the finishing touches on the Camp Barstow leaders guide tomorrow and get it published online. We have had quite a few nibbles with troops and I need to help give them the information they need to make plans for 2019.
Among the auctions I have ending today is this great 1930s Camp Waters felt patch from the Tidewater Council in VA. This one came in as an unusual 1 item consignment through a contact. I know what something like that would sell for if it was a South Carolina camp so I’ll be anxious to see what is closes at tonight.
Me and the kids spent the remainder of the weekend visiting my mother in Sumter, SC. We have church on the schedule this morning and a lunch out with the rest of the family. I hope you have a great finish to the weekend.
