Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter December 3, 2023
I got home late yesterday from a long weekend of slinging cloth at the National Cap TOR. I met so many Hot Finds readers and got to spend time with some new folks and old friends. The fellowship and opportunity to network at a show are invaluable and I can’t stress enough that everyone should plan to attend a few every year to put a name to a face.
My table neighbor helps run the camp museum at Camp Brady Saunders. This is a long time goal of mine to get some kinda museum committee going that will have a dedicated space at Camp Barstow & Coker. I met a comic book dealer who has some really interesting business ideas that he shared with me. But one of the funnest things was seeing so many youth at the show whether it was some seasoned traders or the brand new eyes wide open kids who glowed with excitement when you gave them something free from your table.
So to follow up from Friday’s email – YES I completed the circuit. I managed to buy the first collection at Chick-Fil-A then the next day drove to Maryland to meet a historian at his home for the 2nd buy. From there I drove to a McDonalds near the camp where in the rain under the lid of my mini van I got #3. Then on the way home yesterday I drove to the triangle to get the final collection. Just when my warehouse space gets cleaned the process starts all over. Some of these I’ve been working on for over a year but one just approached me last week.
On eBay I have 92 auctions running with a nice patch of those ending tonight. That includes hat patches, some Indiana OA and Senior Scouting unit and event patches.
