Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter September 6, 2019

Success! Yesterday I spend the morning interviewing a potential new employee to speed up getting stuff listed for sale. I always have strange stories on how I find people. This connection came from me running into someone at a high school football game in Charlotte last week! My new employee Julie is going to be in today to start photographing and listing a collection that I’ve had on the shelf for about 3 years!

I have been at the Atlanta TOR for the twice in the last few years. My last time there I had a failed attempt at bringing a shelf system to rack a bunch of OA flap boxes. Since then I’ve got a new and improved system that I’ll use at the next big show I attend.

It takes me about an hour to create one of these TOR videos. I have to schedule and record the interview. The next step is editing the audio to get it down to the essential information. That audio file then goes to an editing software to clean it up and level out the two people talking. The final step is blending it all together into a still image video and submitting it to YouTube. I do all that for free just to serve the hobby so if you have a TOR and would like something similar please reach out to me.

I have now created a “playlist” on YouTube for all of my popular unboxing videos. It looks like I’ve done 13 of these over the last few years. I still get people years later if I have a certain patch from a video that came out of the box.

I have a number of new fliers added to the TOR calendar. Among those is a flier for the December 6-7 Old Hickory Trade-O-Ree that I just got this morning from Matt White. I’ll definitely be at that show since it’s right up the road from me!
