Who has the most successful eBay Store?

When I was coming up in the hobby I would look in my college PO box for my sales list from the major dealers. There were a number of times I bought things from TSPA, Streamwood (newspaper format), Jim Clough, Richard Shields (The Carolina Trader) and others. As a college kid these were the dealers (along with many others…don’t want to leave anyone out…just making a point). What eBay has done is allow alot more people to become mini-dealers. I count myself in that group. This group is as diverse as old timers who have been around for years to thirty-somethings, or a 24 year old female graduate student who likes to pose in bikini bottoms (or is that a thong…I digress).

While most all of the traditional dealers who have been around for a while have made eBay a tool in their business plan only one (Richard Shields – The Carolina Trader) has really pumped his inventory into an eBay Store. TSPA uses this tool as well but doesn’t rank in the TOP 10 in terms of the stock of inventory in their store.

So my point is that if you just want to focus on eBay Stores (which is a narrow focus I admit) you can use the transparency of selling on eBay to know how these ventures are doing.

One note is that these Boy Scout stores are actually among the top stores (inventory wise) in all of the Historical Memorabilia category.

In this post I focused on the top stores. However there are 50 pages of stores which have at least one item listed in the Boy Scout cateogory.

Going back to the beginning of the thread I mentioned the traditional dealers. Several of them have found success by having their own e-commerce website separate from eBay.

It has been more than three months since my post about the top eBay Stores in the Boy Scout category. Since then eBay has changed and then changed back how it handles listings in eBay stores. For a little while the site combined store listings with auction offerings. But eBay flipped back in the last month and now seperates them out. Here is the report on the last three months worth of sales for eBay stores in the Boy Scout category.
