Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter July 20, 2021

Last night I slept in a tent along a river and woke up to the gentle sounds of a morning rain. That’s about about as peaceful as it gets after a long 5 weeks at Scout camp. I did buy some firewood this morning but there will be no songs or skits performed tonight at our campfire. Maybe some S’mores for the kids and adult beverages for the grown ups.

I am really looking forward to the first TOR for me coming out of the summer. I’ll be at the Occoneechee TOR near Carthage, NC at Camp Durant August 20-21. These guys do a great job and have cabins for rent and a cook team that puts out hot meals. We all stop everything and eat together which is a really cool deal for a TOR. Yes it’s a regional show but if you are coming out of COVID and itching to get on the road I highly recommend it.

I’ve got boxes piled up at the office with small collections that I purchased going back a couple of months waiting to be unboxed. A few of the collections are pretty good so there’s some great value waiting to be uncovered there. I just need to block out a day where I can set up my cameras and film some back to back videos that will last me for for a good while.

I have 232 live auctions on eBay this week including a bunch that just launched Sunday on a 7-day run. This run includes red and white strips, OA and all kinda stuff.

I’m here a the High Country Bus Festival until Friday. Five nights to help erase my camp brain. Usually for the first few days I’m still dreaming about lost bather drills and ideas to tweek things but by Wednesday I’ll have de-stressed and will sleep well at night.
