I’ve got just two days this week to prepare for the Indy TOR as I’m pushing off Wednesday due to a pit stop I need to make on the way up and the potential for some snowy weather on Thursday. It’s going to get wicked cold over the weekend up there so I’m not looking forward to that. But it’s still the best TOR of the year so I don’t want to miss it for anything.
If anyone is looking to get some Best Hobby Pages at Indy you will need to preorder the supplies so I can bring them up already boxed up. I am not going to be able to bring the big containers of all the product due to space restraints this time. The discount code to get that free delivery is PickUp at checkout. Any orders must be placed by noon Tuesday Feb 1st so I can deliver.
I talked to Chris Jensen this week about the TOR. I know he is bringing a bunch of cool stuff for the auctions. The thing that sets Indy apart from other shows is the team of volunteers that are able to run both a killer silent and live auction. They have a reasonable consignment deal so that attracts some great items for the auctions. They also typically have a flea market area where they sell items donated to their group for super cheap. Add in over 200 tables and you have the DNA of a great show.
Tonight I have about 100 auctions ending including some great OA flaps. I usually try and stick my best items in the Sunday time slot knowing that people typically have time on a 7-day auction to take a look.
I have a traveling partner for the Indy TOR. Doug Chambers who some of you may know from his focus on collecting hat pins is riding up with me. Back in 2015 I filmed a video with Doug talking about his love of pins. Doug lives just south of Charlotte and he has helped me a bunch over the last year so we are doing this trip together.
