Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter August 21, 2022

I got everything unloaded into the warehouse yesterday and back home after the Occoneechee TOR in North Carolina. This one had some excitement as a smell of smoke prompted a 911 call to the local fire department. We spent about 45 minutes outside before the all-clear was given. But the patch trading went on!

The cook crew at this event is just amazing. They fed us so well that it was ridiculous. For lunch, on Saturday we ate giant pork chops with mashed potatoes salad and rolls. I guess this was partially leftover summer camp food but hey it’s a brilliant idea! The walk-in traffic was not as good as last year which was noticeable. I hope the thrill of getting out after COVID is not wearing off.

One of the neat conversations I had was with Ryan Losonsky who is from the Baltimore area but has settled down near Fayetteville, NC after a career in the Army. He has a traveling Scout museum. Check out these YouTube videos. He shared that part of his framing strategy came from one of my most watched videos on how to build a system using Ryker and/or Boxware. We have made plans to stay connected and I hope to share ideas and get some inspiration in return from him.

I have 206 live auctions running on eBay. Today, I will conclude all of my 2022 NOAC auctions. I set these up on 5-day runs and have cycled through multiple weeks of burning through my available inventory. I estimate that I’ve sold about 25% of what I traded for using this strategy and now I’ll put the rest up in my store at a fixed price.
