Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter July 2, 2024

I am finishing up today’s Hot Finds from TN on my way back from a 2500+ mile round trip to get two collections. I have said a few times these were not home run collections. But when you can fill up a 16′ truck and really help a family out it’s worth the time and effort. YES there are some patches in there. YES it’s also 1000 pounds of books and bound Boy’s Life. 🙂

Today these are all headed for a storage unit. As they come off the truck everything will be sorted a little better. The key thing for me is recycling everything. So a bunch of this might go in the free giveaway to Scouts pile and that’s fine too. But I’m also sure that the vintage books, patches, uniforms and more can get new homes although it will take some time and effort.

This will end up being the longest distance I’ve driven in my life – from Minnesota back to North Carolina with a few stops along the way. It’s been more than 5 years since I’ve made one of these rental truck pickups. I’m getting a bit older and although I don’t mind driving it’s not a key part of my strategy to deal with super bulk. But with the antique mall, consignment, TORs and my own eBay I have avenues to rehome a good bit of this.

I have 227 live auctions on eBay including tons of hat pins. After a dip in June we are getting back to the normal flow of scheduled auctions.
