Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter July 30, 2024

We got in yesterday and I was able to get a few hours of patch trading down at the Union. It was pretty busy for a Monday. Unfortunately, the trading location is outside *(it’s north of 95 degrees here) and somewhat limited with everyone sitting on the hard ground. I did not go back last night after the show (I was beat!) but the lighting looked to be very much a challenge in that covered walkway. We will see if ISCA makes any improvements going forward.

One of the things I’m doing is trying to make a trade with everyone who comes up to my blanket. The first day is always a struggle as most people are kinda getting oriented and don’t know what they are looking for. But Tuesday should be a full on day (high of 99) so we will hope for better chances and some shade.

The thing I love seeing at an event like this is a lot of interest from younger Arrowmen. I know through past experience that these are the game changes. They will go back to their lodge events, troop meetings and campouts with a big collection of freshly traded patches to share and maybe even brag about. That seems to always to plant seeds for new people to dip their toes in the hobby. Sorta like “well if he or she can do it why can’t I trade for a collection like that.”

All this week I am running a big sale on Order of the Arrow flaps and issues. I figure while we are all at NOAC why not! There are over 18K items in the sale so I’m sure something for everyone.
