Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter August 11, 2024
One week after everyone got home from NOAC and the wave is cresting already. You won’t find as many 2024 sets going up for bids going forward. It’s been a fun feeding frenzy for the hobby.
One of my fails at this year’s NOAC was attempting to trade previous year NOAC patches. I had made sets with the regular issue patch and jacket patch then offered to trade them 1:1 for a modern flap set. During the entire event I probably traded for less than a dozen of these. The crazy designs on the modern flap sets was all anyone was looking for.
Tonight the last of my 2024 NOAC auctions end on eBay. With my easy 1:1 trading strategy I did not come home with many of the most sought-after sets. But I also don’t have anything invested into what I traded for so I think that’s a good deal on my part.

I started collecting Boy Scout memorabilia when I was inducted into Santee Lodge 116, Order of the Arrow at Camp Coker in the summer of 1986. All the guys of ISWA chapter in Elk campsite seemed to be trading and since my dad sent me to camp with a small bag of patches, I jumped in and never looked back....
