Every week I get contacted by someone looking to sell their Scouting memorabilia. Yesterday I got a call from a very stirred up old timer. He had a one of a kind item that he was sure was worth a lot of money. He had looked on eBay and saw a shadow box that someone was offering for thousands and he had convinced himself that his items was better.
In the early 1970s his mom cut out leather and made him a custom vest to display his patches. Paired with his trip to Philmont and patches he had traded for in NM this vest was “one of a kind”. It even had the beautiful Koshare Indian Kiva patches on it. Sadly after multiple phone calls back and forth I broke his heart when I told him I didn’t think any of the single patches on the vest were valuable and probably taken all together someone would pay $50 for his vest. I felt a little bit like I was playing the part of Dr. Phil with him on the couch.
On eBay I have 141 live auctions including some really heavy hitters when it comes to World Jamboree items. My run also features many vintage camp patches. You can see in the alphabet I am getting to the tail end of those with camps like Yawgoog up for bids.
