I have been a member of a resllers book club for a few years and just Sunday I was able to put into action one of fundamental takeaways from reading a book calledĀ The Pumpkin Plan. That is the idea of an immutable law – generally 2-3 rules that you create for your business to help guide you in how to operate and in this case what you put up with. When I got a call from a guy Alabama I had no idea this is what would happen.
So I get a call from a guy and he has some Scout stuff and we agree he will send pictures. Later in the day he does and the pictures are very poor quality and some of them look like they have been sitting in an attic for decades as they are toasted. I actually said as much in my reply asking for better pictures and for him to lay them out. Now mind you these were patches from his wives ex-husband (warning sign LOL). But the immutable (unbending rule) that he triggered was I only deal with people who display the Scout Law. And frankly this guy was a jerk.
Before we could get to the point of even seeing more (better) pictures he wanted to throw out a wild price. He boasted that “I no what I got” and yes I spelled that correctly (sorry Alabama folks). He bragged that he had some I didn’t have. I was completely taken aback at how adversarial his attitude became as he remarked “I have done my research on all I got”. So in a moment not of anger but of knowing that I understood this was never going to end well I blocked his number. So if you get a call from an area code 205 guy look out! š
On eBay I haveĀ 139 live auctionsĀ running on CPs, World Jamboree and more. This week we are getting closer to photographing hundreds of neckerchiefs. My son helped me organize two boxes of merit badges yesterday (he had the day off from school) while I sorted rank patches.
