During my recent live selling show on WhatNot (follow Santeeswapper) I shared with the audience a live unboxing of something that had just arrived at my house an hour earlier by FedEx. Probably 15 years ago I began collecting Boy Scout Insignia by simply sorting all the collections I had purchased from former Scouts. Since that time I have diligently added to the collection and increased the scope of it. Today, I collect almost every major niche of Boy Scout insignia. But in all that time this one particular piece had never been offered to me. The chances of finding this 100+ year old item in the wild are extremely rare.
Then one day a loyal subscriber of my 3x per week Scouting collectors email newsletter contacted me and told me he was breaking up his collection in retirement years. I could not make him an offer on his massive Boy Scout patch collection. But when he told me that this particular need of mine was in there I debated making an offer. In many collecting hobbies when you have a chance to get a crown jewel you know fate has delivered you a prize. So I made him a very fair retail offer on the item and he happily agreed. He even sent me a hand written note celebrating my enthusiasm for the hobby and felt good that his treasured item was in a permanent collection. Sorry for building the suspense but click to watch the video to see what I got! 🙂
