1950s Boy Scout Collection Built One Trade At A Time

I was so fortunate earlier this year to be contacted by someone that has an amazing hobby story to share. As a Scout from TX growing up in the 1950s this young man really caught the patch bug. So much in fact that he attended two National OA Conferences and did a lot of patch trading. He has got some more stories on that that I hope to share in a future video.

But for today I have a gift that he shared with me. While serving in the military a small subset of his patch collection went missing and he assumed it was lost forever. But in retirement while sorting his stuff out he rediscovered this group. Based on all of our interaction be it phone calls or emails he decided to send me a box of these as a gift. WOW! Wait until you see some of the amazingly preserved patches that are now 70+ years old that he has saved.

Again one day I hope to meet him in person and film the whole story of his patch trading days when the hobby was just starting to take off. As Paul Harvey used to call it…the rest of the story!

If you have a collection like this or one from a loved one that needs a new home please reach out. You can find my contact information on my website and text / call / email me so I can hear the story.
