Boy Scout Collection Unboxing From Nevada Includes Eagle Scout and Jamboree plus Order of the Arrow
This collection was cool for me because it was from out west and had many patches that I have never seen in person including lots of Order of the Arrow flaps from Nevada and California where this Scouter grew up and spent time as an adult. I actually got to meet him in person as he was traveling to Charlotte NC to visit family. He mailed some of the items to me and brought the remainder. In our conversation I got to hear about him attending the 1979 Dalajamb in Sweden which was the fall back plan after the World Scout Jamboree scheduled to be held in Iran that year got cancelled. Damn revolution!
He told me the familiar story that he had moved this box of Scouting memorabilia from place to place for decades and finally decided it was time for someone else to enjoy it. I started collecting Boy Scout memorabilia when I was inducted into Santee Lodge 116, Order of the Arrow at Camp Coker in the summer of 1986. All the guys of ISWA chapter in Elk campsite seemed to be trading and since my dad sent me to camp with a small bag of patches, I jumped in and never looked back....
