Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter January 8, 2017

This was the scene from my patch cave two days ago. The bulk of this collection was activity patches and in order to do anything with them they had to go through a human sorting machine. I pulled subsets that I thought people might be interested in like SOAR, klondikes, space themes etc. The rest were sorted by council name. The box on the far right was for those patches that only had a district name or no describable text. Looks like those rounds are headed for the $1 box at the South Carolina TOR next weekend.

Last night I had a lady who owns a vintage clothing shop reach out to me with a uniform and sash she acquired that came from an Eagle Scout who attended the 1937 Jamboree. The Jamboree flash was Region 8 Subcamp O Troop 27. I told her everything I knew about the items and then shot her an offer. However, she felt like the flash alone could be worth $1k so our negotiations didn’t go very far. You’ll probably see this group up on eBay in the next week. I told her I had no idea on that pinwheel patch but if anybody recognizes it let me know and I’ll pass it on to her. This vintage clothing store is her only income so I thought I’d be as straight up as possible.

I was not able to attend the Santee 116 Winter Banquet last night because we got a little bit too much snow in Charlotte this weekend and I thought better of driving the back roads home in below freezing temperatures. However this is what I missed! The lodge activity patch sets this year features 6 events with the letter “S” being the Winter Banquet patch. I hope I won’t miss any more of the letters this year!

You can still find some savings this weekend with 20% off the 1800+ council shoulder strips I have in my eBay store. I will usually run a sale on some category each weekend to keep things interesting over at Patchblanket.com.
