Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter March 08, 2019

The syllabus for the class is your typical topics such as ethics, storage, collecting interests. I got asked to teach the class about 48 hours ago so I’m scrambling a little bit but I think I can just about wing it and cover everything. However, if anybody has a pre-made slide show they want to email I will take it. The old teacher in me lives by the adage you can always “borrow” a lesson plan.

At last nights Scouts BSA meeting my daughter brought some Oscar de la Renta shorts to give to her friends. It’s now starting a little bit of a trend as some more girls prefer the shorter cut on those compared to the zip-offs that they bought in the Scout shop. My daughter even picked out a long sleeved khaki green shirt from my warehouse yesterday and was temped to wear it last night but chickened out.

My daughter is going to take her first merit badge class Saturday. She is signed up for Communications at Merit Badge University. This is the same event that I had a small role in getting off the ground over 25 years ago when I was a member of Alpha Phi Omega at the University of SC. I’m sure in 1993 I had no idea my own kid would eventually take a merit badge at this event. That’s cool!

So if February was the month of .99 auctions then March will be the month of CSPs. I have a collection of about 800 council shoulder strips that I’m auctioning off this month by launching 2-dozen new auctions every night. That means every night I’ll have auctions launching and ending through the end of the month. I’m still figuring out this eBay thing even having been on there for 20 years!

Next week I have Scouting commitments Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and a camping trip Friday-Sunday. I don’t think my wife is going to be happy with me!
