Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter April 4, 2023
With the clock ticking on my weeks before summer camp arrives I have a few interesting opportunities to go look at collections. I have learned the hard way that before jumping in my van to go look at a collection I should be 90% sure I know what I’m looking at. My horror story was driving all the way to Indianapolis and discovering not only was I talking to the wrong family member (someone not in charge of making decisions) but that the rest of the family had fantasies of retiring to Florida based on my offer.
Most of the collections I purchase fit in a priority mail box. But every once in awhile someone has a garage full and it’s time to bring in reinforcements. Yesterday I got one of those calls and he said 40-50 large boxes of stuff. Now first off the definition of a large box is varied. Plus I have to beware that large boxes are a great place to stash coffee mugs. I like coffee but the last thing I need is to purchase more coffee mugs.
As I have been experimenting with old eBay accounts I have decided to pull the plug on the $5 Patch Store in favor of some other ones. This will be the last week that I have this account live and so I’m running a BOGO sale on everything in the store.

I started collecting Boy Scout memorabilia when I was inducted into Santee Lodge 116, Order of the Arrow at Camp Coker in the summer of 1986. All the guys of ISWA chapter in Elk campsite seemed to be trading and since my dad sent me to camp with a small bag of patches, I jumped in and never looked back....
