Ok my first live stream auction on Whatnot is scheduled for January 17 @ 4 PM est. I was waiting to try this until I had an interesting collection for the inaugural show. That box landed in my office recently when I purchased items from the estate of the founder of the Florida Sea Base – Sam Wampler. That’s an interesting fish to reel in and you can see the preview of what’s for sale in
this show link.
You can read a bit of his bio on the Sea Base website but Sam was an executive in the South Florida Council who pioneered the trips and base camp that grew to become originally the Florida Gateway to High Adventure. Early in the 1980s the name changed to be the Florida Sea Base. In the collection you will find items that track some of that history. It includes pieces from the old Land Between The Lakes Gateway (some of the equipment made it’s way to Sea Base) and even some personal position patches off Sam’s uniform.
I don’t get the sense that he was much of a patch collector so the random items in the box range from his time in the 1970s as a professional in South Florida to a National OA Assembly of Chiefs meeting patch. But as I personally know people who collect the Sea Base my thought was to run
this show as a way to share the history and also let anyone interested get something that belonged to the Sea Base founder.
On eBay I have 241 live auctions running on neckerchiefs and patches from all over. this includes an interesting run of troop neckerchiefs.
