The storm has passed and the sun came out at Camp Barstow. We luckily only got a little bit of rain at 4 in the morning but despite our concern and preparations Elsa decided to pass us by.
Even with a small group of campers this week our pop-up museum was a huge hit. We had some Scout leaders who hung around the whole time. I even had a few that had visited my antique mall booth in Charlotte which was fun.
My talk at camp on Tuesday is focused on the history of merit badges. I spread out a couple dozen sashes from the teens to the modern era. Inevitably the game happens afterwards where we go through and play “name that merit badge” looking through the sashes. I’ve got 174 live auctions on eBay this week that you can take a look at.
This weekend I’ll get to go home for a quick turnaround. My son is coming to camp next week as a camper. I’m looking forward to him experiencing some of our Barstow magic.
