Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter June 22, 2021
Over the weekend I attended a Camp Staff Reunion (held every 5 years) at Camp Barstow. Part of the program was a historical display that I think ran about a dozen tables long. My small contribution included the collection of a former Scout Executive and his son. I saw lots of people admiring these displays and reminiscing about their golden years in Scouting.
Even though the summer is typically a season that has less activity on eBay you can still always find some great picks among the 400K live listings (only a fraction of which are auctions). I know people in my parts are watching the notch flap below that is the First Flap of our local Muscogee Lodge.
The high today at Camp Barstow will be 77 degrees. To everyone that repeats the legend that it’s too hot in SC in June to go to summer camp our 10 day forecast doesn’t show a day where the temperature is above 83.
On eBay I’m down to
82 live auctions as I didn’t have any set to launch Sunday night. We will see if I can get some more loaded over the weekend. I have a quick turnaround with less than 24 hours home after each week.
Tonight Matt Delk and I are putting on a pop-up museum of our own at camp. I’m looking forward to trying out this format and seeing how the Scout’s respond. We have several dozen leader in camp and I suspect they might be the ones who really get a kick out of it.
