Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter August 29, 2021
This weekend my family made a trip down to Pawleys Island SC to get one more beach weekend in. But it’s not without a patch related errand. I sold Jim Pifer one of his OA needs last week and rather than trust the mail to deliver it I am planning on hand delivering it to him later today since he lives down here.
It’s funny how things are working out for the Charlotte TOR. Every time I’ve had a table renter say they can’t make it (reservations from March 2020) I have another newcomer asking for tables. So far I think it’s all going to work out and the room will remain absolutely full. I’ve added table renters from MD, PA, VA and even a local Mecklenburg County scouter recently.
I am treating the TOR as my version of a warehouse sale. Which is to say I”m emptying the shelves and bringing the kitchen sink. Among the more unusual items is over 40 5″ D-ring white binders that I picked up last year. I will have uniform parts for $1 each and hundreds and hundreds of items in the silent auction. The next couple of weeks are going to be very busy in the warehouse getting ready!
I have
98 live auctions on eBay this week including felt camporee patches and lots of unusual activity patches. When I get collections in I try and sort all the event pieces and put the most interesting ones up for auction.
I mentioned before that Doug Chambers has come by and helped me sort out my hat pins and Stuart Tucker helped sort all of my red patrol patches. I’ve still got a few other topics to go through including World Jamboree, Philmont and camp patches. These are topics I hope to tackle this fall.
