Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter September 7, 2021

Tomorrow I’m interviewing a new employee to come learn the world of selling Scouting memorabilia. This lady is a friend of one of my current employees and her two sons have been through the program. But now as an empty nester (one is in college) she is interested in getting into a part time role where you can wear jeans and not talk to retail customers. Sounds like working in a patch warehouse meets those criteria.

This week I’m going to be really focusing on prepping items for the silent auctions at the Charlotte TOR. My goal is 400-500 items ready to go with many of those just starting at $1. I hope that the auctions are a nice draw and I know they are a great way for me to move stuff in my warehouse. Win-Win
For the Charlotte TOR there are table renters from nine different states including as far away as TX and PA. To me there are a couple of key ingredients for a good TOR. One is bring in a diverse group of dealers who will have the tables full of deals. The second one though is foot traffic and people to shop those tables. I have mailed out over a thousand fliers to eBay customers over the last four months and had someone visit all the round tables in our local council. Hopefully the word is out and if folks don’t have a conflict they will make the trip.
This week on eBay I have about 100 auctions up and running. Among those are some nice Philmont and OA pieces. I should have 20 auctions launching every day for the foreseeable future if I can keep up my schedule.
I welcomed a new collector to my Patreon Group the Scouting Hot Finds Insiders last week. This week I’ll have more exclusive content for those fans including one I recorded while Greg McDaniel was in town helping me sort out my Philmont stuff.
