New 2013 Jamboree Site Chosen!

Hello All,

Well the announcement was made official today. The Jamboree for 2013 and the next 100 years of Jamborees, is coming here to West Virginia. The Buckskin Council will be the host council. You Guys and Gals will love the beautiful area they have selected. It is home to the beautiful New River Gorge and some of the best white water rafting in the world. Below is one of the news releases.

The Boys Scouts unveiled plans today to turn a section of West Virginia into the organization’s fourth high-adventure camp. The camp will be built on a 10,600-acre tract in Fayette County near Glen Jean. The Summit: Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve is made possible by a $50 million gift from the San Francisco-based S.D. Bechtel Jr. Foundation. The camp also will become the home of the scouts’ National Jamboree, a huge event attended by more than 40,000 scouts, staff and leaders. The camp could draw between 40-thousand and 200-thousand visitors a year when the Scouts complete an estimated 300 million dollar investment. The camp should create 80 permanent jobs and 1200 seasonal ones.
