Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter December 2, 2022
This week on Scouting Hot Finds Live I shared the whole story of my involvement with supplying uniforms for The Fabelmans. In doing that homework I discovered the picture above that was shared with me back in May of 2021. At the time I had no idea what the movie was about so it never occurred to me that I was looking at a teenage Steven Spielberg behind his camera with some of his Scout buddies. Wow!
I am hoping to interview the Hollywood costumer that I worked with during this process. If you have seen the movie you will know that it’s a coming-of-age story filled with some great acting and family dynamics. But the portrayal of the Scouts in the movie is absolutely positive.

I started collecting Boy Scout memorabilia when I was inducted into Santee Lodge 116, Order of the Arrow at Camp Coker in the summer of 1986. All the guys of ISWA chapter in Elk campsite seemed to be trading and since my dad sent me to camp with a small bag of patches, I jumped in and never looked back....
